Re: numbers Steve, 2001-10-07 09:40:36 Hello Devi, The examples you give are fine, according to the standard grammar of the textbooks (except 150 is "kant hanter-kant", not "kant ha hanter-kant"). However, the standard grammar is not an accurate reflection of what happens in spontaneous speech (of native speakers, not learner activists), where 25 books is usually "pemp war-nugent levr". Only three words are consistently used according to the traditional system: lur "pound", "franc", bloaz "year" and eur "hour" (all words which are very frequently counted), so: pemp lur war-nugent "25 pounds", c'hwec'h lur ha tregont "36 pounds" pemp ploaz war-nugent "25 years", daou vloaz ha hanter-kant "52 years" peder eur war-nugent "24 hours", eizh eur ha daou-ugent "48 hours".
