Gwenedeg Breton

2001-2002
Gwenedeg Breton
Arian Iñigo, 2001-09-21 16:38:22
Dear Loig:

Did you receive my e-mail soliciting your help in learning Breton? I ask because I have not had a reply from you lately. (I will send you another message shortly as a follow-up.) I know it seems too late for me to be asking you for help, but I would like very much for you to help me.

Anyway, I heard that Gwenedeg Breton has its own spelling system and even its own literary tradition. What is it that makes it so different from other dialects of Breton? I thought that Breton was quite unified as a language. However, now some people even say that Gwenedeg is actually a remnant dialect of Gaulish.

As proof of this assertion that Gwenedeg Breton is a Gaulish remnant, I would like for someone in Kervaker to find me an original text in Gwenedeg so I can read the text and compare the spellings with standard Breton.

Yec'hed mat,

Arian Iñigo
